These days, there are lots of values in our society. We choose dwelling method with in consideration of value cost. When the house was used for shelter, the number of values we need was restricted. Now, a time has changed a great deal, but our house we live has not taken the time as it has been. Therefore, we recognized the problem that it couldn’t accept a lot of values people have with this method we live.

The Values

When people choose a house, they think about various values that a house possesses such as commuting problem, size of the house, quality of space, value of movement, comfort and real estate. These values influence on people’s decision of choosing and composing a house. For example, one of natural function of house, ‘eating dinner’ or ‘composing family’ has sometimes transfer to outer service facility because the house we live now cannot properly accommodate this value anymore.

Define the default Value-cost

Elements that house must hold by necessity such as family, rooms, kitchen, and comfortable bed are not required now.

We think that the house should not be sold house as apartment which is package of all values included, instead the house should be made by a person who decides value and choose each element by him or herself.

We supposed that the Value-cost of a person on Comfortable Position is $0.

Also every surrounding element can be supplemented in various ways by the person’s decision and Value-cost. A Suitable House could change its shape, volume, location, or added supplements by needs of one’s life.

Proposal : House, not out to in but in to out.

Here, we would like to introduce our motto of changing of dwelling pattern.

The reformation of dwelling pattern that we suggest starts from transform of our understanding of a house.

Depends on individual’s Value cost, everywhere could be a house, for instance, homeless people, living in airport terminal or living in working station. When these entire living patterns are recognized as normal dwelling, then structures of society will be changed.

Our proposal is that; The house is not a machine for living in anymore, but a life itself.

As times go on, after changing recognition, what scenes would be appear?

We’ll show some examples we thought in the next pages.

1968, The Factory

Andy Warhol, pioneer of American pop Art, produced so many masterpieces as he resides in small studio in New York City with many models and his crews. ‘The Factory’, which represents his studio, was his office, house and his life itself. Now, ‘The Factory’ symbolizes American pop art with Andy Warhol.

2008, Pakage House

Modern house is decorated with much furniture in limited boundaries. People, who choose packages, prefer something that is near to his or her optimized Value-cost among the house packages, and decorate his or her own house.

2010, Served Home

To modern people who occasionally move place to place, including oversea, housekeeping is a burden. Hotel is the house which converts value of housework into service and concentrate to the value of sleeping. Dweller is served with a fresh breakfast every morning and guaranteed with his clean room.

 

2012, Studio Living

Architecture students spend their time working in their studio more than in their houses. Studio, where architecture students can easily communicate with associates, easy to get materials for architecture and easy to access many services that are offered from university, is the most efficient house for architecture students. They do not need any kitchen or bed in this place.

2014, Chamber for Study

During the exam, early in the morning, students compete to get a better house in library. These hardly taken houses are prolonged one day or to final exam. Generally, quiet corner seat has higher value than open seat. Students unwillingly sacrifice their morning sleep to acquire higher value.

2016, Mobile Home

Mobile home could be possible in running train. To a modern, time for transfer is precious value which could not waste. Seat attached cushion could provide comfortable bedding and folding table could become wide space to chatter with friends. Dweller could enjoy the shifting scenes outside by the carriage window.

2020, Invitation to my Cafe

Cost to use cafe home during one day is $42. Today I invited my friends round, chattered with coffee till late at night, and I fall asleep for a moment. Tomorrow I have a class early in the morning, so I will sleep in cafe near by college to cut down Value-cost.

2024, Dream on the Flight

My home will cross the ocean and take me to the Europe while I sleep. After finishing my work and sleeping back, I could enjoy a cup of morning coffee in Starbucks, Seattle.

2028, Office-dwelling

We don’t need Home-working but Office-dwelling. Workers can be on duty efficiently in Office-house with better living condition. They can communicate with co-workers in a comfortable atmosphere like their home and within the method; they can improve their working ability. Also they can save Value-cost for commuting money. However, remember that this is only possible in thorough protection about privacy.

 

2032, Low-energy House

If there was still concept about co-housing, apartments would progress with shape for minimizing energy cost to use or to maintain. High intensive lightweight-structure is easy to assemble or disassemble, so it helps to reduce energy Value-cost used for construction/scrap. Also, as we use the solar energy concentrator in every unit, we can turn dwelling energy to sustainable energy for maintenance.

2036, Homeless Capsule

As life of homeless is approved as one of dwelling methods, the new infrastructure will be formed for them who need a minimum Value cost. Providing clear condition with proper temperature and humidity, homeless tube will give us service facilities which have enough capacity to hold many people.

2040, Virtual Box

If there were people who live in virtual world instead of real world, there would be every living element which they need. Perhaps their home in real world might be delightful box where they could connect to virtual world comfortably. And electronic company such as Sony, which already made virtual world, would be in charge of producing these boxes.

2048, The Core-tower

When housing extended from person increase with various types, may be there are new vertical city in where lots of plans displayed surrounding mobile core. In 2052, core tower will form new skyline of NewYork.
